Downtown

Whether you call it Downtown, the Main Library, or Central, our flagship location has had two primary locations over the past 250 years. In 1844 we moved into the Wadsworth Atheneum, where we stayed until a brand new building was constructed in the late 1950s, just up the road at 500 Main Street. Move in day was January 2, 1957 and we have been there ever since.
